For our 002 launch, we worked with artists who exemplified "mental wellness" through their creations.

Stephen Kleeshay, or better known as @Kleeshay, is a Toronto-based artist who comments on current culture, as well as personal experiences through poetic pop art and typography.

Below the artist explains his own creative journey and what pushes him to pursue his passion:

"Drawing, painting, and thinking about aesthetics has always played a big role in my life but it wasn’t until my early 20’s that I realized it needed to be the main pillar of my life.

After working a practical job with no creative outlet for a few years, it became apparent that I would have to quit and begin pursuing art as a career if I stood any chance at obtaining happiness.

I think that whether we like to admit it or not, gaining recognition for our ideas feels good, so being able to free my ideas from the pages of my notebook and showing them on a larger scale meant they could begin effecting people’s perceptions, which in turn would provide me with a feeling of purpose.

Art’s portrayal of pop culture and the human condition has always been a fundamental facet of life and society, but I don’t think there has ever been a time where it has been more necessary than right now. In that sense, it is imperative to keep creating even when you face self-doubt.

To poorly paraphrase something said by someone probably much smarter than I am, 'the worst day you have while pursuing something creative is still better than the best day doing anything else.'"
